Random humor

This might have been a "you had to be there" moment to enjoy the humor.

But I was signing out of an activity, and I was watching this young woman who was probably in her 20s and her daughter go through a metal detector.

Her daughter passed through just fine.  The woman, who looks harmless and was in good spirits, passed through and the detector went off.

She went back to the other side and tried it again.  She went through the detector and it still went off.

The cop that was there barely even flinched and joked indifferently, "It's the gun."

I don't know - you probably just had to be there to enjoy the humor.

Anyways - here's something that will probably make you laugh.  My sister got it from her coworker and passed it to me:

Scripture Memorization

Hi all,

I'm planning on working on a 2 verse a week scripture memorization plan, and am asking if anyone is interested in joining me.

It would be 2 new verses a week, and then a review of verses from the previous 6 weeks.
Or if you want to look at it a different way - learn two verses a week, and then review it for the following 6 weeks.

This derives from a memory fact I read courtesy of Follow Up Ministries:  "The average person must review memorized Scripture daily for seven weeks before he can safely retain it."

I figure if I memorize verses one day, then review it for the next 48 days - I should be good for life.

And I was planning on doing two a week, so at any one point, I'm reviewing/memorizing up to 14 verses a day:

Week 1     Memorize Week 1 Verses (2 verses total)
Week 2     Memorize Week 2 Verses,  Review Week 1 Verses (4 verses total)
Week 3     Memorize Week 3 Verses,  Review Weeks 1-2 Verses (6 total)
--
Week 7     Memorize Week 7 Verses,  Review Weeks 1-6 Verses (14 total)
Week 8     Memorize Week 8 Verses,  Review Weeks 2-7 Verses (14 total) (By Week 8 you've done the week 1 verses for 7 weeks and can drop it)
Week 9     Memorize Week 9 Verses,  Review Weeks 3-8 Verses (14 total) (Now drop the review for week 2)

In terms of what verses to memorize - that's entirely up to anyone who wants to contribute verses (just let me know if you want to share).

Anyways, if you're interested in memorizing scripture with me, please let me know.  I'll plan on starting this next Sunday, September 28.

More squirrels, commencement, and a wedding

This post is a total conglomeration of a bunch of random stuff, but hey - what the heck?

Some more squirrel pictures, courtesy of James

Haha he's so cute (or maybe it's a she, I can't tell)

A picture of me taking a picture of the he/she squirrel

I love the bewildered look on the squirrel's face

An AWESOME commencement video punctuated by the UCLA fight song/clap

And pictures from my sister's commencement for the College of Letters and Science

Baptism, Point Lobos and a fearless squirrel

I could easily split this post up into several entries, but hey, I'll just group it all under one post ;-p

My baptism:

Baptism.  Just do it (I'm joking about the Nike shirt).  Me and Dennis, excuse me, Dennis and I, both look amused

Pastor Dennis praying

About to get immersed

Some pictures of Point Lobos, fairly close to Carmel and Monterey.  It IS GORGEOUS:

I think that's a seal towards the right

I love those rocks

I think they had some sort of anniversary celebration, so there were extra artists around to commemorate the event

Isn't God's creation amazing?

A couple seals chilling on some rocks

It's just so amazingly gorgeous

The beauty in the pictures speaks for itself

From the roots you would think the tree is almost dead - but it's very much alive

Me and my mom

A flower that's made of flowers

Flowers of many colors

Some more seals

Anyways after Point Lobos my Young Adult community group went to Carmel.   I met this squirrel at a Carmel beach last week, it was NOT scared of people.

He's so cute ;-p

Alright, if you want to see it nibbling on a cracker, here's a video:

Random/thought on company names

I'm going to talk to a company called Finesse today (no not the shampoo company) for an interview, and I was just thinking it's a bit funny how high tech companies share the same names as other companies which aren't in that arena.

Finesse - a shampoo brand name, but the company I'm talking is in the life sciences realm

I found out that Diana works at GNC - (haha not the health product company), but General Networks Co

And a few years ago there was the chance that I would talk to Maxim, not the magazine, but a company that makes integrated circuits

However if you ever had a high tech company with the acronym KFC, you would be asking for trouble ;-p

(Oh and for the record of course I don't endorse some of the content in Maxim, you can guess what type of content)
